Sarina worked with us, as our interior designer, on a project that involved a full renovation of our home, both internal and external. We found Sarina to be knowledgeable, connected, supportive and passionate, and she always took the time to ensure we we well informed through honest and efficient communications. Sarina took us on a journey that we would never have gone on, from a modernisation and future proofing of our home, and it was her vision and understanding of design and colours etc that has left us with a finished product that is amazing, and we love. As do all our family and friends that visit. i would recommend Sarina 100% Mike and Nicki R

FAQs

I have an hourly rate of $*information hidden*(inclusive) per hour. I also work with my clients, to create a discounted package deal (for a nominated budget of hours) according to the size of the project. The project is usually divided up into 3 or 4 phases and part payments are made on the completion of each Phase. Mileage to and from the Job Site is complimentary, if within Tauranga region. To initiate any design services, a nominated non-refundable deposit is required.

I initially have a free, no obligation, consultation to introduce myself, take an informal brief and ascertain the scope of the project. I then email a PDF file with information and images of the look we might investigate, along with a draft of hours/fees I estimate the project may require. The design process is conducted in 3 to 4 phases depending on the scope of work required; PHASE I - DESIGN CONCEPT SERVICES Images are collected to establish the theme that reflects the owners tastes and style, whilst interpreting the architecture, functionality and flow. This requires the following tasks to be performed: Based on the brief, research and create a digital dossier of images that expresses the look and design ideas that could be incorporated. Discuss to establish project direction and any changes to the brief Conduct an initial design study of existing conditions; a site visit to take notes, photos and further discuss the project. Collection of any existing plans and information relevant to the scope of refurbishment Provide superimposed images of some aspects of the project, produce a digital colour board, and provide image examples of the theme Discuss clients design preferences for each of the Project’s areas from the concept dossier provided. Note any changes PHASE II - DESIGN CONCEPT SERVICES On the basis of existing plans, measurements taken, and scope of the refurbishment established, the following would be executed: Prepare drawings and gather samples of materials to illustrate the suggested design concepts; including colour schemes, interior finishes, wall coverings, floor coverings and window treatments, as to their properties, textures, reflective values and colour Investigate existing plans/measurements and prepare layout plans specifying placement of products, and/or movable furniture and furnishings Lighting - address the present fixtures and fittings in relation style and functionality. Create a plan brief Referrals of subcontractors and suppliers including quotes PHASE III - DESIGN CONCEPT SERVICES If refurbishment involves trades and services (and/or purchasing), site visits are required to check received goods and workmanship: Check visits and attend any design meetings required ADDITIONAL SERVICES (AVAILABLE IF REQUIRED) Personal shopping Trades consultation and coordination

Interior Design Experience in Hospitality/Commercial/Residential (1995 to present) Bachelor Degree in Creative Industries (*information hidden* Diploma in Architectural Technology and Construction Management - small build (2009) NZQA Landscape Construction and Design Level 5 Certificate (*information hidden* Real Estate License (2002)

My design experience began in 1995 in Brisbane, Australia, where working for Leisure & Allied Industries, as a sales professional, I fortuitously, became their head interior designer for hospitality fit-outs. I later worked for Vision Developments Brisbane, who at the time won the Best Resort Award in the $2m+ category. After moving back to New Zealand (early 2000s), I renovated many local hospitality venues starting with Latitude 37 (previously Hammer Hardware). I have since been commissioned for a variety of industries & clients, ranging from off the plan, to complete refurbishments for entire apartment buildings, industrial buildings, spec. homes, mansions, bars, restaurants & shops.

Last October 2019, I was commissioned to completely design, refurbish and project manage a huge home in Freeburn Estate, Tauranga. It took three months at a very challenging time of year for trades and supplies, but the outcome was excellent due to a great team effort and amazing clients. They love their home and that's the greatest reward - I couldn't help but choke up at the review they gave me (Mike and Nicki R).

I think you need to get on with them, be on the same page, see they're passionate and feel they know the science behind what they're doing. Communication is key and with the choice of technologies available, you need to know they will have tools, or methods, to convey what the concepts is before making purchases. In saying that, walking around your space in a virtual tour, is not entirely necessary and costs time and money.

How are you going to use the space - what is its purpose - now and in future? What can you do to future proof your market value and advances in technology? What is the scope of your project - maybe you just want to partially renovate but get the complete scheme for future reference? Do plan on selling at some stage?
