I initially have a free, no obligation, consultation to introduce myself, take an informal brief and ascertain the scope of the project. I then email a PDF file with information and images of the look we might investigate, along with a draft of hours/fees I estimate the project may require.
The design process is conducted in 3 to 4 phases depending on the scope of work required;
PHASE I - DESIGN CONCEPT SERVICES
Images are collected to establish the theme that reflects the owners tastes and style, whilst interpreting the architecture, functionality and flow. This requires the following tasks to be performed:
Based on the brief, research and create a digital dossier of images that expresses the look and design ideas that could be incorporated. Discuss to establish project direction and any changes to the brief
Conduct an initial design study of existing conditions; a site visit to take notes, photos and further discuss the project. Collection of any existing plans and information relevant to the scope of refurbishment
Provide superimposed images of some aspects of the project, produce a digital colour board, and provide image examples of the theme
Discuss clients design preferences for each of the Project’s areas from the concept dossier provided. Note any changes
PHASE II - DESIGN CONCEPT SERVICES
On the basis of existing plans, measurements taken, and scope of the refurbishment established, the following would be executed:
Prepare drawings and gather samples of materials to illustrate the suggested design concepts; including colour schemes, interior finishes, wall coverings, floor coverings and window treatments, as to their properties, textures, reflective values and colour
Investigate existing plans/measurements and prepare layout plans specifying placement of products, and/or movable furniture and furnishings
Lighting - address the present fixtures and fittings in relation style and functionality. Create a plan brief
Referrals of subcontractors and suppliers including quotes
PHASE III - DESIGN CONCEPT SERVICES
If refurbishment involves trades and services (and/or purchasing), site visits are required to check received goods and workmanship:
Check visits and attend any design meetings required
ADDITIONAL SERVICES (AVAILABLE IF REQUIRED)
Personal shopping
Trades consultation and coordination
