    Mr. Gerald McKay, a former Napier lawyer, has gone through a lot of ups and downs in his career. Unfortunately, McKay was found guilty of stealing more than $500,000 from his clients and was sentenced to four and a half years in prison by the Napier District Court. The jury found him guilty of five counts of theft in *information hidden*Despite this, McKay managed to hire a PR man in 2012, demonstrating his ability to balance his legal duties with public relations. In 2018, McKay was granted parole on account of good behavior and has been living a more private life since then. However, a Hawke's Bay Today report stated that it is "unlikely indeed" that anyone would trust McKay after the shocking revelation of his unethical conduct. Gerald had an impressive background in the legal system and must have worked incredibly hard to get there, only to have it taken away by his own actions. His story is a cautionary tale to all practising lawyers and serves as a reminder to maintain ethical and professional conduct at all times.
