Industrial photography is about highlighting the ethics, principles and values of a company, regardless of the type of business they are in. It appeared towards the end of the 19th century and began to take off at the beginning of the 20th century, thanks to the use of new printing techniques and new parameters. Industrial photography is seen as a communication tool for industrial society. It can reveal the productivity of a company. An industrial photographer can magnify in images industrial materials and products as well as men and women at work.

Kumar photographed the action at our 'Swiss Doubles" petanque tourney, which drew entries from most clubs in the Wellington district. His task was made difficult by him not being able to intrude on the playing area. However his eye for a good picture and superior equipment gave us a photographic record of the days action that was superior to any recorded by the Wellington Petanque Association at previous events. We were proud to send out photos to individual players later next month and received thankful feedback. They were particularly pleased with his ability to capture rapid motion (including boules in flight) and to capture both international and lower grade players in action. At a break in play Kumar assemble the competitors and took several group shots from a high angle to commemorate the day. His enthusiasm, professional attitude and clever editing of the portfolio were appreciated . We will certainly seek Kumar out to photograph future events.

We engaged Kumar to record a tourney at The Naenae Petanque Club. He was restricted to the fringe of the playing area, yet had the cameras and technique to capture the essence of the action in close up and medium shots. We were amazed at his ability to show the flight of the boules and the action and facial expressions of the players. In a break in play Kumar assembled the interclub players and took several group photographs, encouraging them with warmth and wit. The photographic record Kumar presented to the club president was met with delight by club members. This was the first time any petanque event in our region had been formally photographed, and hopefully Kumar will be available next year too.

I have been a professional photographer for my entire life. With first class honours degree in photography, several photographic awards to my name and over fifteen years shooting experience I still absolutely love what I do. Photography has taken me all over the world where I have worked for a multitude of clients and have photographed everything from Architecture and Sports to Natural Disasters for International NGO’s. Since arriving in Wellington New Zealand in 2005 I have worked primarily as a portrait and wedding photographer. Its a privilege to photograph weddings, they are truly magical events and a journalistic photographers dream. I get welcomed into peoples lives to witness events that they will want to remember for ever, and the responsibility is not lost on me – capturing the moment with as little fuss or intrusion as possible is key. I love photographing the magic, the relationships, the sideways glances and nervous giggles. Its about telling your story. I believe in building a strong relationship with the bride and groom, listening to their opinions and producing unique photography they will treasure forever. I produce art-work that reflects the essence of the day.
